Robert "Bud" James Arn, 83, formerly of Simsbury, CT

died peacefully November 26, 2006 in Virginia Beach, VA.

Born and raised in Massillon, OH, he was the eldest of five children of the late Robert and Mary Arn of Massillon. Bud graduated from Washington High School and attended Ohio Northern University.

He was an outstanding baseball pitcher in the Ohio semi-pro leagues and was scouted by the Cleveland Indians prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy.

During World War II, he saw extensive action in the South Pacific. Throughout his career he worked in the steel industry in Ohio, New Jersey, and Connecticut and retired as Works Manager for Philbrick, Booth & Spencer in Hartford. Always an active member in the church wherever he lived.

He served most recently as Eucharistic Minister at St.Frances Cabrini Church in Spring Hill, FL during his 20 year retirement.

He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the BPO Elks. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Reese Arn, and four children: David and Kathryn Arn of Virginia Beach, VA, Suzanne and Michael McCarthy of Jaffrey,NH, Jonathan and Linda Arn of East Granby, Timothy and Mary Arn of The Woodlands, TX, and ten grandchildren. A sister, Jane Pulaski of Plainville, and brothers, Dr. William Arn of Kent, OH and Donald Arn of Canton, OH and sister-in-law Betty Reese Mulhall of Morristown, NJ also survive him.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Virginia Beach on Thursday, November 30th at 10 a.m. Internment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford, at a later date. HD Oliver Funeral Home, Virginia Beach is in charge of arrangements. www.hdoliver.com or 757-428-7880
